"Best Guidebook I have ever bought...great resource to find beginner snorkeling for kids."

“This is an amazingly thorough review of all of the places to snorkel in Maui. It is so informative and tells you where it is always murky and where it is mostly clear and calm. It discusses the skill level of snorkeling required and has beautiful illustrations as to how the reef areas relate to the beaches and the access points. It is a tremendous resource to find locations that would be safe for beginners and kids… this advice is just incredible information. It is also thoughtful because it discusses parking (and parking problems) at each beach along with the shower and restroom facilities if they are present. Also discusses how hard the hike or access is to each snorkeling area or beach. Just a beautiful book with numerous color photos, Hawaiian word glossary and a lot more information about Maui. Must have for everybody.”

“I have read guide books that give you a tiny blurb on snorkel spots. I have read guide books that seem no better than the free cartoonish guide you can pick up at Maui Dive, Shop. This book really gives you what you want, detailed descriptions of the snorkeling at various locations. It has the maps, it has the driving directions, it has parking information. But what I really love is the detailed descriptions of the snorkeling. Where to go, within the bay. What to look for. What you’ll see. And those beautiful, beautiful pictures. “If you want to snorkel Maui, this book has you covered. Every great snorkel spot is explained in detail –how to approach the water, where the best reefs are, what areas have the best clarity, and what kind of sea life you can expect to find. So many places are mentioned, I’ll need at least two more trips back to Maui to cover the whole island. Maps are spot on and the book is very easy to navigate. A must have for any adventurous snorkeler, or even the average novice.”

It describes the correct entry points to the reefs at Maui as well what type of flora and fauna one is going to encounter in a particular beach. One can clearly see that the author is an experienced snorkeler, in addition to description of the place, the author also presented snorkeling tips, ocean hazards and conservation. I used this book to plan my 5 day snorkeling trip to Maui and do not regret it. Next time I go to Maui, this book will be in my luggage again.”
